Durham and the RENERGY project
Besides the organisation of the final conference in Brussels, the council aims to contribute to RENERGY based on experience in mapping activities, governance support and the development of strategies and policies.  Durham will participate in the thematic pillars Business and Community.  The Council aims to benefit from the project through awareness raising and the targeted collection of good practices to be incorporated into the strategic and political framework of the county and an important advantage will be the creation of investment opportunities for the RES and EE sector.
Thanks to its close relations with regional and national Carbon Action networks, the council has a key influence on governmental policies related to sustainable energy. Its achievements in the field of RES and EE has gained the Council several national and regional awards and therefore has a high national reputation in this field. The main role of the Energy-Environmental Planning and Modelling (EPM) of CNR-IMAA in RENERGY will be to provide key knowledge to the partners in order to define and implement methods (e.g. in self-assessment, implementation plan) that can enhance energy efficiency and utilization of RES. This role is in line with the overall objective of the institute, which is to support the partners and policy makers in defining sustainable energy strategies. CNR also expects to BENEFIT from the know-how transfer and the opportunity to collaborate with regional and local authorities all over Europe.
